Hydrosols, also known as “flower waters,” are produced by distilling plant materials. With similar properties to essential oils, these aromatic waters are much less concentrated, and their aromas are often soft and subtle when compared to their essential oil counterpart. They are colloidal suspensions of essential oils, but also contain the water-soluble components obtained by steam distillation or hydrodistillation from plants. Unlike essential oils that should be diluted prior to application to the skin, hydrosols are much gentler and can generally be used directly on the skin without further dilution. Hydrosols may be more gentle, but they are still very powerful and effective.
Healing Potion is gentle enough to be used daily, can be used anywhere on the body, and has a multitude of applications:
Relieve pain
Reduce swelling
Reduce bruising
Heal scar tissue
Soothe and heal hot spots
Soothe and treat burn, stings, rashes, and other skin irritations
Treat fungus
Clean minor cuts and wounds
Stop superficial bleeding
Storage: keep in the refrigerator for maximum shelf life.
*Buyers Beware: Sometimes, water simply blended with essential oils is sold as floral waters or improperly classified as hydrosols. The first ingredient in a true hydrosol should be the plant, not distilled water. Although there are benefits to using fake hydrosols, they lack the therapeutic benefits true hydrosols offer.
Organic helichrysum, organic yarrow, distilled water (by-product from distillation).
